Michael has decades of prosecution and litigation experience in the areas of Patents, Trade Marks, Designs and Plant Breeder’s Rights in Australia, New Zealand and in South East Asia, including Malaysia and Singapore. He acts as a valued adviser to his Clients, which include Fortune 500 Companies and local SMEs, using his innovative approach and cost-effective strategies to obtain and improve the value of their IP portfolios.

Michael also has expertise in the protection of Trade Secrets and is a past Chair of the International Statutory Developments in Trade Secrets Subcommittee of the American Bar Association, IPL Section. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences and serves on the Editorial Board of Biotechnology Law Report. In addition to his separate Biotechnology and Chemistry qualifications, he has a technical qualification in Wine Science.
