For over thirty years, Maniam has been involved in Intellectual Property. Having a Degree in Physics, he is a Registered Malaysian Patent, Trade Mark and Industrial Designs Agent. His technical specialties fall in the Mechanical, Electrical, and Telecommunications fields, as well as in capacitive sensors used in the automotive and computer industries. In light of his diverse experience and seniority in the Malaysian industry, Maniam has established a good working relationship with Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO). He has also undergone training in IP conducted by the Japanese Patent Office.

Prior to joining Houlihan IP as a Specialist, Maniam worked with a large Malaysian Intellectual Property consultancy team in Kuala Lumpur and subsequently, as a Director of a boutique Intellectual Property Consultancy Firm.
